Ryan was born and raised in La Conner and has loved fishing of all types since a young age. When he turned 17 he went to Bristol bay Alaska to start making money for college. Ryan ended up fishing up there for 17 years and was able to get his environmental education degree from WWU while fishing. Ryan decided that he loved fishing so much that once he graduated he bought a small crab boat and started fishing Puget Sound in 2014. It was always his dream to fish in his back yard so he also gill netted in various fisheries around the sound as well. (Kings, sockeye and chum). Ryan says Crabbing has been an awesome fishery for me and my family and I plan on doing it for as long as our fishery flourishes. The boat I own and run now is a 26’ Wilson named the Idano.
